I tried a couple Fulltone pedals, the Bogner Uberschall, the Amt SS-11, and then finally I was considering purchasing a Pete Cornish G-2. After experimenting for six months I was using it as a preamp pedal instead of a distortion pedal because I couldn’t quite get the sound I was after. I absolutely love this pedal and wouldn’t trade it for anything else. I really appreciate how you explained the Tube Drive components facts and informing me of the last tube position as the tone control circuit tube.

My Tube Drive pedals serial number is #035. We spoke on, I believe, it was Tuesday the 1st 2014. Hi Phil, I am Ken Whitworth from the United States. This pedal just sounds SO GOOD now! Many thanks for making it work PROPERLY again. Like – every – single – customer really mattered. Because I dont have to crank up an old fender amp all the time, my wife appreciates you as well! Your customer service reminds me of how businesses used to treat people back in the 1960’s. It just nails the Keith Richards tones (for me) when I swap old 12au7 tubes in it and tune open G. It is so open and amp like in its reaction and character of sound. Because I am a tone junky and have been for 45 years, I have a lot of gear – but your Tube Drive is the probably last drive pedal I will ever want to use for my O.D. One of my greatest pleasures when the work day is over is playing a guitar to unwind. I just wanted to thank you guys over there for helping me out. OK, I’m drinking wine and tired from moving snow all day. I feel like it has been through a war but found its way back home where it will live out its days in peace. Phil and Sam, The Tube Drive is back today. Accepts 100V to 240VAC mains input and comes with different mains outlet adaptor plugs, so there is always a plug that fits the country that you are playing in. Includes 12V Wall-wart Power Supply: High quality low-noise switched mode 12VDC at 1.5A wall-wart compatible with all our pedals.Daylight visible orange L.E.D.: Indicates when pedal is engaged.Dakaware Knobs: Authentic phenolic Dakaware, Chicago knobs manufactured in the U.S.A using the original 1940s moulds!.The Tube Drive is also the perfect tonic in today’s digital world where guitar tones can sound flat and one-dimensional. Especially useful with single coil pickups to thicken the sound or when playing at low volumes to compensate for loudness. Low-end contour switch: Active low boost for a warmer, richer sound. The tone range is optimised to work over important frequencies essential for mellow jazz tones to some serious crunch. The Bax-Stack is a real treble boost (and cut) circuit with zero insertion loss, unlike passive tone stacks which can only remove frequency content (“tone-sucking”). Bax-Stack “active” tube tone control: The Tube Drive is the only overdrive with an active tube tone control. This will alter the pedal’s gain and tonal characteristics so that is becomes more full-bodied and bluesy sounding. For example, swapping out the 12AX7 tube in the top right hand position for a lower Mμ 12AY7 or 12AV7.

It can be quickly and easily transformed into a hi-gain distortion beast, mellow blues driver or boost pedal by simply removing a tube and replacing it with a different type. Tube swapping: The tone and gain characteristics of the Tube Drive can be drastically altered by interchanging tubes – in fact the pedal is designed for easy access to the tubes for this purpose. This topology gives the Tube Drive fine control over a wide range of gain characteristics from mild breakup to creamy saturation. All Tube gain circuitry: The Tube Drive is the only pedal you can buy that has a complete tube guitar preamp inside – 100% analogue, class-A, all-tube means no silicon in the signal path and it operates at real amp plate voltages (300VDC!).
